{"id":591,"date":"2013-10-08T13:21:47","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T11:21:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timotheegiet.com\/blog\/?p=591"},"modified":"2017-12-07T19:51:42","modified_gmt":"2017-12-07T18:51:42","slug":"gmic-colorize-comics-working-in-krita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/timotheegiet.com\/blog\/comics\/gmic-colorize-comics-working-in-krita.html","title":{"rendered":"Gmic Colorize-Comics working in Krita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to the sponsored work by <a href=\"http:\/\/lukast.mediablog.sk\/log\/\" title=\"Lukas blog\" target=\"_blank\">Luk\u00e1\u0161 Tvrd\u00fd<\/a>, we now have G&#8217;mic working directly inside Krita in current git master version !!<br \/>\nThere are still a few bugs and missing features, but a lot of filters can work, including &#8220;Colorize Comics&#8221;.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s a little example with a frame from &#8220;Freestyle Fiction&#8221; part2 (to be released in a few days \ud83d\ude09 ), with detailed steps and settings that I&#8217;ve used.<\/p>\n<p>-First, make a file with your artline layer on top, a layer with color spots below, and another empty layer that&#8217;ll recieve the extrapolated colors.<br \/>\n(note that for now, if you want to use a filter that&#8217;s supposed to create new layers for the result, you have to create manually those extra empty layers in place before to run gmic action)<br \/>\n-In the Layer menu, select &#8220;Apply G&#8217;mic action&#8221;.<br \/>\n-In G&#8217;mic&#8217;s window, on the left side, select Input: All and Output: In place.<br \/>\n-select &#8220;Black &#038; white&#8221; : Colorize [comics] filter<br \/>\n-In Layers ordering part, select &#8220;lineart + color spots + extrapolated colors&#8221; for both input and output layers.<br \/>\n-I did set smoothness to 0.02 (default is 0.05, lower values makes thin details more accurate, bigger values enhance &#8220;open lines&#8221; tolerance).<\/p>\n<p>See the result:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/timotheegiet.com\/images\/krita\/gmicKrita-spots.png\" alt=\"gmic colorize comics Krita spots step\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/timotheegiet.com\/images\/krita\/gmicKrita-filled.png\" alt=\"gmic colorize Krita result\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(note: screenshots size ~25% of original resolution.. )<\/p>\n<p>So if you can&#8217;t wait to test G&#8217;mic in Krita, go get the development version and have some fun (see <a href=\"http:\/\/community.kde.org\/Calligra\/Building\" title=\"build Krita\" target=\"_blank\">this page<\/a> for detailed build instructions, or use the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~dimula73\/+archive\/krita\" title=\"Krita Lime ppa\" target=\"_blank\">Krita Lime ppa<\/a> for ubuntu based ditributions), or wait for next 2.8 release later.
